Change the Narrative
Pearl Consultancy Firm
For the past 15 years I have been connecting with women of all ages during challenging times of transition. I began to notice some patterns and trends that must be addressed, systemically, individually and wholistically.
Entering midlife has never been a smooth transition and there are more societal, familial and economic pressures on women today then there ever have been before. What people call a midlfe crisis is often more like a midlife awakening or what I like to call a midlife pivot.
This is when the stories you've been living and the stories you've been told don't seem to fit anymore.
This is the part when you get to take everything you know about yourself and the world and start writing your own story with your own narrative in your own voice.
While gaining experience working within the Canadian federal and provincial legal, financial and procurement systems I began to notice a trend.
I saw so many women who had so much potential to thrive, if they only had the right kind of support, environment, education or motivation.
Women who owned rooms they walked into at work struggling to keep things together at home and women at home struggling to get back to work.
Women in meetings being shut down even when they had many many credentials behind their names.
Women who should be the main characters in their life, realizing somewhere along the way that they lost the plot and the supporting characters.
My Story
I decided to bring as many women together as I could find, who were on the same mission.
Educate, Empower, Change the Narrative.
In 2024 I went on a trip that changed everything, Clarity. I went on a journey and everywhere I went I found women with vision who lacked the proper tools and support. Who just needed someone to clear the obstacles in their way.
While working in disability and inclusion at the parliamentary precinct level, I was in consultation meetings with specialists from Canada the US and the UK on everything from security to procurement contracts, best practices and accessibility in the built environment. I learned a lot during this time, but this is when my understanding of what inclusive practices look like. It looks like no one left behind.
Sometimes we just need a little bit of clarity, the right tools and the right support to remember who we are and what we are capable of. Sometimes we need to be surrounded by other women who have the experience and have been through it.
